11 Months

Daisy is 11 months old now.

What?!

Her two front teeth are going to pop through pretty soon. Daisy will now walk while holding our hands, which is adorable and pretty amazing. She is learning to walk! My little baby!

Daisy is a climber. She will climb anything and everything.

Her new favorite food is mac and cheese. I found a super easy and quick recipe on pinterest, and while it isn't exactly gourmet, it gets the job done without having to get the fake orange stuff. All you do is boil the noodles in milk. and when the noodles are cooked add cheese. Thats it. Again, not gourmet, but good enough for a little kid/big baby/I am not used to referring to Daisy as anything other than my tiny baby.

It is definitely fall here. The colors are amazing, there are apples and pumpkins everywhere, and it is cold! We have had a great time taking family walks, and this weekend we have plenty of fall activities planned.

Lately

Not to get anyones hopes up, but I am resolving to blog once a week. Partially because if I set aside time to be on the computer to blog, it will help me to remember to write my brother Sam, who is on his mission in Brazil. I have only missed a week or two, but too often I am frantically typing an email with my thumbs on my phone about an hour before he gets to check his mail on p-day.

Also I want to because I like keeping our friends and family all over the country involved in our life. I mean, we live in Wisconsin. Kind of out of the way for everyone we know (excluding our Wisconsin friends, obviously).

I'm trying to think of all the things that have happened since I last blogged, and there are just too many. That is another point of motivation. I have a terrible memory and I want to write it all down not only for our friends and family, but for us too! I want to remember all of Daisy's tomfoolery so I can make her feel guilty as a teenager. Kidding. Maybe.

The most traumatic event lately would definitely have to be almost a week ago. It was about 4 in the morning, and I was just waking up to Daisy crying. I had barely registered in my mind that I had to get up to see what the deal was when I heard a loud THUD and the saddest, loudest, scariest cry in all the land. I bolted out of bed and down the hall, and found Daisy on the floor sobbing and crawling towards me.

K, my heart broke into a million pieces. My poor little baby!

I picked her up and ran into our bedroom, yelled "Daisy fell out of her crib!" to Jordan, who woke up instantly and we laid her down on our bed and checked her over from head to toe for injuries. Guys. This could have been so much worse. She could have been seriously hurt. Luckily, so so luckily, she was shaken but okay. Jordan then went straight into her room and lowered her crib to the lowest setting. It was pretty low to begin with, but I guess it was just high enough for her to get the momentum needed to send her over the edge. I keep thinking about how she could have managed that, and I just can't figure it out. She is a climber though, and a crafty one at that. Hopefully she won't figure out how to escape again anytime soon.

Daisy isn't walking yet, but she is crafty. She will line her walker up with the couch to her wagon or the kitchen chairs so that she can cruise without having to crawl or attempt to walk without support. She can totally stand on her own, but I think she lacks confidence because anytime she figures out that she isn't holding on to anything she sits down immediately. She won't let me walk her while holding hands either. She seems to think that if I'm there, I should pick her up.

Daisy gives kisses now! She will even kiss the phone screen when we facetime grandparents or Jordan when he travels. It's the best ever. She gives me kisses after she wakes in the morning and from her naps, and my heart melts every time.

More often than not, Daisy is sleeping totally through the nights. THANK GOODNESS. A couple weeks ago I was struggling with whether to try to wean Daisy off of the last middle of the night nursing session. I decided to just keep on nursing her if she wanted it, with the hope that she would grow out of it. I guess she did, because probably 80% of the time she sleeps for 10-12 solid hours. So those rare occasions when she wants a night cap, I am happy to oblige. Cuddle time with my busy girl is scarce enough as it is, I'll take it when I can get it.

Daisy loves her Papa again. For a while there she was in a HUGE Mama phase, where I could only be within arms reach at any time, and no one else would do. Not only am I more productive now that I can be more than a foot away from her, but she has so much love to give Jordan. It is really nice to see, because I know it is tough on Jordan to be away from us.

I've got a lot of projects going on, maybe I'll write about those sometime. I mean, I AM a little more than a baby machine.

This is only HALF of the cheese isle. Welcome to Wisconsin.

She doesn't suck her thumb very often, but I think it is the cutest thing ever.

Daisy has started taking self portraits with my phone. No joke. This was the first one, during a diaper change.

Daisy loves to help her Mama!

She enjoys lounging on her sheepskin rug, which her Pappy got in New Zealand when he was on his mission, 30 years ago.

I Know, I'm Sorry

Listen. Guys.

I know you've all been so so sad that I haven't blogged in a long while. You must be at home, wondering if Daisy has gotten any cuter, if I've made anything cute or delicious, and if we have gone on any adventures.

Let me set your minds at ease.

Yes.

K, here is what we have been up to.

California again
Crawling
Standing
Cruising (walking while holding on to furniture)
Two teeth
Florida
Significantly easier bedtimes and longer nap times
Garden bounty
Homemade salsa and watermelon ice cream
Preparations for the craft fair NEXT WEEK
Breaking even celebration-she has been out longer than in!

On Tuesday Daisy and I will fly to North Carolina to participate in the booth my Mom, sisters and I have in the Cary Lazy Daze art and craft fair. We have made a million things, including but not limited to: quilts, headbands for you and baby, baby shoes, purses, bibs, pacifier leashes, banners, etc. I am really excited about this trip, I think it will be a lot of fun to sell stuff with my mom, hang out with the family, and spend some time in the state I love. If you are in NC it's Saturday, August 25th, in downtown Cary. Come see us!

Daisy is babbling even more now, and even started to wave at me. She dances to music, and gives kisses. She is as sweet as ever, and has so much love for her mama and papa. We love her to pieces.

K PICTURES.

OH YEA JORDAN GOT PNEUMONIA

Where We've Been

We were able to go camping a couple times with friends in the ward. Daisy did great! She doesn't sleep as well in a tent as her own room, but hey. Who does?

Daisy on a wagon ride with her friend and neighbor, Miss B.

 Enjoyed bath time with Momma.

Daisy LOVES trying new food, but is not very patient.

Check out these poses. She makes them a lot now, and they just kill me.

 Playing Peek-a-boo

Here is a little preview of a photoshoot Jordan's mom took of Daisy. She really knows how to ham it up for the camera.

These are adorable football star pictures of Jordan from high school. What a stud.

We went to California! Jordan had a business trip to San Francisco, so with his parents in Sacramento, we had to take an impromptu vacation!

Our hotel was right in the middle of all the shopping down town. Perfect.

People were waaaayyyy too friendly to Daisy in Chinatown. A bunch of people took pictures of her, and one woman really overstepped some boundaries. We were in a little shop looking around, and a couple of the shopkeepers stopped to admire Daisy. She was in a little umbrella stroller (our big one was not going to fit in those little shops) and a woman knelt down to talk to Daisy. Before I could even realize what was even happening, she was unbuckling Daisy and picking her up. I am so mad at myself, because I FROZE. I wanted to yell, take her back, leave immediately, but I just stood there, and watched all tensed up as some stranger picked up my baby. I was holding this giant umbrella and kept thinking "Oh great, now I am going to have to stab some nice old lady in the middle of Chinatown to get my baby back". The lady just hugged Daisy, who hugged her back and then buckled her back up. However, my lesson was certainly learned. I did not stop the stroller for more than a few seconds for people to say hi after that.

Sushi with Dad.

Daisy has perfected the "Really, Mom?" look.

Okay. So this place. Why did I not come here last time I was in San Francisco? I had the best sundae of my life. Dark chocolate ice cream, dark chocolate chunks, dark chocolate fudge.

Then, of course, sourdough bread bowls with clam chowder from Boudins at the Fisherman's Wharf. Daisy loved the tops of the bread bowls, and chomped on that one the whole drive home.

Back in Sacramento, we celebrated Jordan's birthday! A lot of candles on that cake, right?! That is the famous Rocky Road cake that Jordan's mom makes. It is as delicious as it looks.

Daisy helped us pick some cherries in the family orchard.

We started giving Daisy little finger foods, and she loves feeding herself.

The dragon kite we got Jordan for his birthday! It looks so cool in action!

Watching Dad fly his kite

We really wore Daisy out with all our traveling...but then again, since she has been born, she has been carted to NC twice, New Orleans, California, and various places in Wisconsin. I think she is used to it :)
