Jordan Man Steak Beef Cake-a post I started last night and didn't finish

Jordan is a great husband. Here are a few reasons:

He is out getting me a pizza as we speak because I HAD TO HAVE ONE RIGHT NOW. Pregnancy cravings usually don't hit me that hard-generally I can control them. Not tonight. So what does he do? He gets on his iphone, orders a pizza, and just left to go get it. Thankfully in these troubled economic times, like every pizza place is having deals.

Jordan didn't get after me for the mess I made in the kitchen when I was trying to satisfy cravings. Like I mentioned earlier, typically cravings don't really drive me crazy but for some reason today has just been a huge "I NEED TO EAT THIS SPECIFIC THING RIGHT NOW" fest. I ate all our vegetables for lunch, for example. Then I searched the interwebs for the best chocolate chip cookie recipe. I found one that claimed to be awesome. It made a TON of dough, and the cookies came out all flat and melted and gross. I know some people like them crispy like that, but not me. So I added more flour, poured the rest into a 9x13 to see if cookie bars would work. Then I took them out too soon because I wanted them to be really gooey. Jordan took one look, turned on the oven, and told me that they had to bake until he came back with the pizza. Good call, Jordan. Now we have edible cookie bars.

Jordan gives me foot rubs, and rubs my shoulder whenever I ask. I have been having a hard time sleeping comfortably lately, and it just gets worse each week as I get bigger (it doesn't help that we are currently sleeping on an air mattress, waiting for the first paycheck to buy a real mattress). I wake up sore every morning, especially on my left side. Jordan always listens to me complain about it, and then when he gets home from work he does whatever he can to make me feel better.

Jordan loves the dinners I make for him, even if sometimes they sound weird. Like bulgar (a grain-when cooked kind of like couscous). He ate that bulgar up. I've been trying to be sure to make really healthy meals for all two and a half of us, and he always tells me how delicious they are. (Thank you, Martha Stewart Every Day Foods).

Jordan works all day and doesn't complain when I show him all the plans I have for his hard earned money.

There are a ton of other reason, but those were the ones that immediately came to mind. Jordan is awesome and our anniversary is on Saturday!

Stuff I'm doing

I've known that I really needed a hair cut for a while. My last one was just before Christmas, and with all the pregnancy hormones and everything, the growth of my head hairs has been out of control. I realized the other day that I could tuck my hair into my (maternity) pants, and really unless you going to re-inact the birth of Venus, hair that long gets cumbersome. Since I didn't have any giant sea shells around, and I have to wait until November for my very own cherub, I decided to take action. I have no idea the good places to get your hair cut in Wisconsin. Also I would rather spend $50 on furniture right now than a haircut. So I cut my own hairs today. I've done it before, but it has been a couple years. I tried taking a picture, but I am all comfy cozy in an arm chair by the window crocheting baby blankets, so the only view my computers camera could get was 100% pregnancy bosom, which is uncomfortably ample. And an uncomfortable picture for me to post in the internet. At least this isn't twitter.

Anyways, here is a picture of the blanket I'm making:

This isn't the actual blanket, its just the pattern that inspired the blanket. Those sea pennies are super small in that picture, about 1" in diameter. I am making mine to be about 3" in diameter. I really like the look of the small little circles, but the way it is in that picture was just a little too small for me. The blanket I am currently making is white, for the baby blessing. I want to make another one when I find out the gender. If it's a boy, I'll probably use colors very close to the yarn in that picture. I love the different blues, and touch of sea foam green. If it is a girl I will probably do some corals and whites, maybe some grey. TRENDY.

On the subject of Dr. appointments, its been really frustrating. I made one last week, and it is for next week. When I called the office, I had to wait to talk to the OB nurse. She called me back THE NEXT DAY. (I know I am being dramatic, but I am carrying a human in my tummy. I need to know if I can name this human Taylor Swift or Kanye West. Jk. Kind of). The OB nurse called me back, and set up an appointment...but as mentioned previously she set it up for two weeks from that point. I am one week down, one more to go. I then asked her if I would be able to have an ultra sound at that appointment, and she said "Oh we will talk about it at your appointment". Sad face. I guess there is a chance they will do an ultra sound at the appointment next week, but I am trying not to get my hopes up.

There is also the slight issue of I will not be able to contain the information once I do find out, but my appointment is during Jordan's work hours. He has forbade me from telling him via text or phone call...and I have to tell him first because that would be weird to tell someone else before him. What am I going to do for the FOUR HOURS that I will know, and not be able to tell anyone?!

Probably just go shopping and buy baby stuff. Let's be honest.

Paula Deen and Harry Potter

So I have been filling my week with this:

Unpacking isn't quite as thrilling as it looks. It hasn't been too bad though. I have the kitchen stuff all washed and unpacked (I was a little over zealous with the newspaper while packing, so I got inky fingerprints on EVERYTHING, making breaking in the new dishwasher necessary). I'm almost done putting away all of our clothes into our new mega closet. Next will be organizing the rest of the stuff-books, all my art stuff, etc. Until we have some bookshelves, we won't be able to put any of the books away.

The baby's room right now is home to all of the empty boxes, and some recent finds at garage sales. I didn't take pictures of them, but I will once we are done making small repairs. We got a big roll top desk for me to do art stuff. I thought it was really sweet for Jordan to pick it out for that purpose. We also found an awesome sewing machine-the kind that is made of steel and attached to the table it is on-we plugged it in before we bought it, tested it, and it runs perfectly. I'm really glad we found it for so cheap. The sewing machine I had before was definitely on it's last leg. It was a hand-me-down from my mom, and my mom used it until its dying breath with all her amazing quilts and other projects. I was lucky to have a year of use out of it. So now with this new machine, I can start getting to work sewing all the curtains, throw pillows, and baby stuff that I have been making a list of.

So anyways, here is some stuff on the internet that is the best:

Now for the belly shot:

Making things legit

Oh, don't mind me. Just dressing up the blog a bit.

So maybe on Fridays I'll post things I plan on doing to my baby that might embarrass that baby once it's older?

CHECK THESE OUT

NOW FOR MY FAVORITE ONE:

Now, to all you naysayers and concerned family members out there (and Jordan, if you ever decide to read this): I know my baby is not a toy. I'm only going to dress my baby in costumes/create internet memes based on my baby when it's adorable or really really hilarious. Like the shark baby at the beach. Look how happy that shark baby is.

Everyone can rest easy.

FIRST POST

Okay. Here it is. My mormon mom blog.

Jordan suggested the name "Barefoot and Pregnant" because of how he expects me to spend my time now that he is salaried-you know, at home, perpetually pregnant, and baking/cooking something in the kitchen. I don't know how accurate that is going to be, but a man can dream.

The reason why I am starting this blog is the same reason that many mormon moms start their blogs-to keep in touch with all the family and friends that they have across the country, and to update everyone on the state of their offspring.

STATE OF MY OFFSPRING: Kicking mah insides as we speak.

Anyways, since we left Utah at the end of April, Jordan and I have been up to many shananigans and tomfoolery. We went to New York City, where he got to perform with his college comedy group and I got to go to art museums and puke in Times Square. We left New York for Texas, as Jordan was a groomsmen for our friends wedding. We went from Texas to California, where Jordans family lives. It was nice to spend some time with them, and taking a break from wayfaring. From California we went to North Carolina where I got to be a bridesmaid for another friends wedding, and we got to spend some time with my family. We went from North Carolina back to California, where we packed up our car and drove to Wisconsin. The drive was pretty uneventful. I got a speeding ticket in Wyoming...for 7 mph over the speed limit. As is custom, I spent the time we were driving through Nebraska in a grumpy mood. I hate driving through Nebraska. Once arriving in Wisconsin we went to Brat Fest, looked for apartments, and started getting used to our new surroundings. It took us a long time to find an apartment, but we have one now! I got the keys yesterday, and now here are the obligatory new apartment pictures...AND A BELLY SHOT.
